Natsumi Kumagishi - Saxophonist, Composer, Performer
Born in Okayama, Japan, Natsumi Kumagishi began studying the saxophone at the age of 12. After earning a Bachelor's degree in Law and gaining professional experience, she shifted her focus to music and saxophone performance, studying in both Japan and France. She has studied saxophone under Saori Tabuchi, Masashi Oshiro, and Alexandre Souillart.
She has received prizes in competitions held in France, Japan, and the U.S. She also actively organizes concerts in Japan and France. Initially drawn to classical repertoire, she later developed a deep interest in contemporary music and is currently exploring interdisciplinary creation. She studies composition with Aurélio Edler-Copes and Nicolas Mondon, collaborating not only with musicians but also with artists from diverse fields, including actors, dancers, and visual artists.
Since 2023, Natsumi Kumagishi has been continuing her research at the Bern Academy of the Arts (Hochschule der Künste Bern, HKB) in the Master's program "Composition – Creative Practice," studying with Teresa Carrasco, Cathy van Eck, and Simon Steen-Andersen. Her artistic work often incorporates philosophical questions and everyday curiosities, investigating the relationships between music - particularly using live electronics - gestures, and visual effects. Her commitment also extends to refining her performance, encompassing not only musical artistry but also body movements and theatrical expressions. Through an interdisciplinary approach, she seeks to engage audiences with these questions while simultaneously exploring them herself.

Née à Okayama, Japon, Natsumi Kumagishi commence l’apprentissage du saxophone à l'âge de 12 ans. Après avoir obtenu une licence en droit et acquis une expérience professionnelle, elle se consacre pleinement à la musique et à l’interprétation du saxophone, poursuivant ses études au Japon et en France. Elle a étudié le saxophone auprès de Saori Tabuchi, Masashi Oshiro et Alexandre Souillart.
Lauréate de plusieurs concours en France, au Japon et aux États-Unis, elle organise activement des concerts en France et au Japon. Initialement attirée par le répertoire classique, elle développe progressivement un intérêt profond pour la musique contemporaine et explore actuellement la création interdisciplinaire. Elle étudie la composition avec Aurélio Edler-Copes et Nicolas Mondon, collaborant non seulement avec des musiciens, mais aussi avec des artistes de divers domaines, notamment des acteurs, danseurs et vidéaste.
Depuis 2023, Natsumi Kumagishi poursuit ses recherches à la Haute école des arts de Berne (Hochschule der Künste Bern, HKB) dans le programme de Master « Composition – Creative Practice », avec Teresa Carrasco, Cathy van Eck et Simon Steen-Andersen. Son travail artistique intègre souvent des questionnements philosophiques et des curiosités du quotidien, en interrogeant les relations entre la musique – notamment à travers l’électronique en temps réel –, le geste et les effets visuels. Son engagement s'étend également à l’affinement de sa performance, englobant non seulement l’art musical, mais aussi le mouvement corporel et l'expression théâtrale. À travers cette approche interdisciplinaire, elle cherche à inviter le public à partager ces questionnements tout en les explorant elle-même.

熊岸奈津美
サクソフォン演奏/作曲/パフォーマンス
岡山市生まれ。岡山朝日高校、大阪大学法学部卒業。一般企業での勤務を経たのち本格的に音楽の道に進み、くらしき作陽大学、尚美ミュージックカレッジ専門学校コンセルヴァトアールディプロマ科にて研鑽を積む。2017年秋よりフランスに渡り、クラマール音楽院にてサクソフォンと現代音楽演奏の分野においてフランス国家資格を取得。国内外でのコンクールにおいて入賞、また日本やフランスでコンサートの企画・運営も行っている。近年、作曲や電子音響を用いたパフォーマンスの研究にも取り組み、バニョレ音楽院にて作曲を、クラマール音楽院にて電子音楽作曲法を学ぶ。音楽のみに限らず、ダンス、演劇、マルチメディアといった他分野と音楽の融合にますます関心を寄せ、現在モントルイユ音楽院(仏)作曲科、ベルン芸術大学(スイス)修士課程Composition Creative Practice科に在籍し、枠にとらわれない創作・研究に力を注いでいる。彼女の作品は、哲学的な問いや日常の興味を出発点とし、特にライブエレクトロニクスを用いた音楽、ジェスチャー、視覚的要素の関係性を探求する。また、演奏表現の深化にも力を入れ、音楽的な技巧のみならず、身体の動きや演劇的要素にも取り組んでいる。学際的なアプローチを通じて、これらの問いを観客と共有しつつ、自らも探求を続けている。
これまでに、サクソフォンを田渕沙織、大城正司、Alexandre Souillart、室内楽を長瀬敏和、中村均一、Christian Erbslöh、作曲（電子音響を含む）をAurélio Edler-Copes、Nicolas Mondon、Teresa Carrasco、Cathy van Eck、Simon Steen-Andersenの各氏に師事。
2024年度、2025年度、公益財団法人かけはし芸術文化振興財団奨学生。
